Ned Kelly
Ned Kelly was born in June 1885 in Beveridge, Victoria. When Ned started to do bad things and become a criminal when he was fourteen. He began doing crimes the following year, which put him in mind of the police. Years later a police officer went to Neds house to arrest his brother Dan for stealing horses but while he was there Ned shot him in the wrist. Ned Kelly wore a suit of armour known as the "letter box"
Ned Kelly is one of Australia's most known bushrangers. Ned had Irish parents and was in alot of trouble by law. In 1870 Ned spent 6 months in jail for beating up a salesman. Ned and his brother along with other friends ran into the bush to hide from policeman. Kelly and his gang was what they were known as robbed two banks and caught the towns policeman and locked them up. During 1879 Ned and his gang made armour to protect them against police bullets. It was held together by iron bolts and lether straps which was nothing fancy. It did protect them but weighed around 44 kg which was a big problem! On the 11th of November 1880 at the age of 25 Ned Kelly was hanged at the old Melbourne jail.
